Job Description

Timber keeps rural towns working, and a sawmill near Durban Central is hiring crews. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

What you'll actually do

Stack logs by length for loading onto trucks
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks

You'll need

Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Available for early starts and fire-season standby
Valid ID
Passes the medical check for fire crews

Helpful, not essential

Fire fighting training
First-aid training
