Piggery Stockperson

Healthy animals mean a healthy farm; on a sheep farm near Potchefstroom, you keep them that way. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

This post is Potchefstroom-based, with most of your time spent at a sheep farm.

• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager
• Move animals between camps or pens calmly
• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Collect eggs or check broiler house temperatures
• Follow biosecurity rules like foot baths and clean overalls

• Reliable, since animals depend on you
• Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
• Gentle and patient with animals
• South African ID or a legal work permit

• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets
• Milk or meat rations
• Farm housing on site
• Training in animal health

• Say which animals you have worked with and for how long. Farmers want someone who already knows the routine.
• For foreman roles, mention how many workers you supervised and what you were in charge of.
