Strong welding and plate work for the pressure vessel manufacturer in Brakpan, with real drawings and real tolerances. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

The site is in Brakpan; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• TIG weld stainless steel tanks and fittings with proper back-purging
• Prepare joints for radiographic and dye penetrant testing
• Fit up beams, columns and bracing with the correct gaps and alignment
• Roll and form plate for tanks, chutes and hoppers
• Set up MIG and flux-cored machines for long production runs
• Read fabrication drawings and cutting lists before you mark out plate

• At least 2 years of production or site welding after qualifying
• Steady hands and good eyesight, with or without glasses
• Medical fitness certificate for industrial sites, or willing to get one
• Willing to work shutdowns, long shifts and weekends when the plant is down
• Valid welder coding to ISO 9606-1 or ASME IX in the processes the job needs
• Boilermaker or welder trade test certificate, or current SAIW welder qualification

• Leather welding PPE and auto-darkening helmet supplied
• Shutdown bonus and site allowance for work away from home
• Accommodation and meals paid on out-of-town shutdowns
• Coding renewals paid by the employer
