Job Description

You'll sort out burst geysers, leaks and blockages for the commercial building contractor in Midrand. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Midrand-based, with most of your time spent at a commercial building contractor.

The work, day to day

Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings
Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
Order fittings from the supplier and keep the van stocked
Take photos and complete the insurer's claim report after each geyser job
Install and repair soil and waste pipes to SANS 10400 Part P
Install copper, PEX and PVC piping for new bathrooms and kitchens

Must-haves

Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254
At least 3 years as a qualified plumber, including geyser replacements
Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs

Nice if you have

Experience with insurance repair work and claim paperwork
SAQCC Gas registration for LPG installations
