Refrigeration Technician (Commercial Cold Rooms) – Fixed-Term

Keep cold rooms cold and offices cool for the supermarket refrigeration contractor in Kempton Park. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The site is in Kempton Park; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Recover refrigerant into cylinders and log every kilogram used
• Clean coils, replace filters and check drain lines on scheduled services
• Replace thermostatic expansion valves and electronic controllers
• Install split units, cassettes and ducted systems, including brazing and vacuum work
• Respond to temperature alarms from cold rooms before stock is lost
• Commission new systems and show the client how to use the controls
• Complete service reports on a tablet and have the site manager sign them

• Brazing, flaring and vacuum skills you can demonstrate
• At least 2 years servicing commercial or residential systems
• Understanding of single- and three-phase control circuits
• Refrigeration and air-conditioning trade test or an NQF 4 occupational certificate

• Building management system alarm handling
• Transport refrigeration units on trucks and trailers
• Experience with VRF systems or chillers

• Standby pay for weekend fridge breakdowns
• Gauge manifold, vacuum pump and recovery unit issued to you
• Company vehicle with a fitted tool rack

• Mention whether you are comfortable on standby. Most service jobs in this trade include it.
• Your SAQCC Gas card must be current. Put the expiry date on your CV so nobody has to ask.
