Job Description

Hard outdoor work on a road rehabilitation project in Epping, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a road rehabilitation project on the Epping side of Western Cape.

What your day looks like

Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts

What you need

Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
Willing to start early, often at 06:30
You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan

Helpful, not essential

Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
Previous site work you can show with a reference

On offer

Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
Paid weekly or fortnightly
Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
