Job Description

You'll sort out burst geysers, leaks and blockages for the private hospital maintenance department in Pinetown. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

The work is in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

The work, day to day

Trace hidden leaks using pressure tests and moisture readings
Take photos and complete the insurer's claim report after each geyser job
Service booster pumps, pressure tanks and water storage tanks
Work on the emergency call-out roster for after-hours bursts
Replace burst geysers and fit vacuum breakers, drip trays and pressure control valves to SANS 10254

Must-haves

PIRB registration as a Licensed Plumber, so you can issue plumbing CoCs
Able to talk politely to home owners about damage and costs
Code 08 licence and a clean driving record
Plumbing trade test certificate or an Occupational Certificate: Plumber (NQF 4)
Fit enough to lift a 150-litre geyser with a helper and work in tight roof spaces
Working knowledge of SANS 10252-1 and SANS 10254

Nice if you have

Drain camera and high-pressure jetting experience
Experience with insurance repair work and claim paperwork
SAQCC Gas registration for LPG installations
