Job Description

Your care keeps residents at a hospice in-patient unit in Rustenburg safe, clean and comfortable through the day. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The site is in Rustenburg; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

What your day looks like

  • Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose
  • Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
  • Spot confusion, falls risk or changes in mood and tell the nurse in charge
  • Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
  • Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
  • Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered

Must-haves

  • At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
  • First aid Level 1 or BLS certificate
  • Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent
  • Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
  • Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people

What you get

  • Transport home after late shifts at some facilities
  • Uniform supplied
  • Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care
  • Overtime paid at time and a half

How to apply

  1. Make sure the role, the hours and working in Rustenburg really suit you before you apply.
  2. Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): first aid or BLS certificate plus certified ID and matric certificate.
  3. Send your details with the form below. Add one or two lines about similar work you've done.
  4. If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 8 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Rustenburg.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
  • Recruiters phone references for care jobs, so warn your references and check their numbers still work.
