Primary Health Care Nurse (PHC Clinic)

You'll run patient care on a busy shift at a private maternity unit in Brackenfell, from admission to discharge. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The site is in Brackenfell; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders

• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts
• Clean criminal record
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

• Experience with electronic patient records or bedside charting systems
• IMCI and NIMART training for primary health care work

• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Study support for post-basic specialities
