Production Line Worker (Food Factory) – Fixed-Term

Machines set the pace at this plastic moulding plant in Centurion; you keep up and catch the faults. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a plastic moulding plant on the Centurion side of Gauteng. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number

• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
• Some basic first-aid training

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
