Production Line Worker (Food Factory)

You'll keep the line running at an industrial bakery in Roodepoort, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Roodepoort-based, with most of your time spent at an industrial bakery. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number

• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start

• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine
• Previous work in a food or FMCG factory

• Company transport on some night shifts
• Night-shift allowance on top of basic pay
• Staff shop with discounted factory products

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
