Production Operator (Vehicle Assembly Line)

Work on the line where every station counts, at the exhaust and catalytic converter plant in Germiston. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Germiston-based, with most of your time spent at an exhaust and catalytic converter plant. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Follow standard work sheets and quality checkpoints at every step
• Assemble components at your station within the line cycle time
• Load and unload robotic welding cells safely
• Pull the andon cord when a defect or safety issue appears
• Keep your station clean using 5S rules
• Record production counts and scrap on the shift board
• Wear the correct PPE, including gloves, glasses and ear protection

• Good eyesight and hand coordination
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights
• Able to stand for a full shift and do repeat tasks without losing focus
• Grade 12 certificate
• Able to pass a basic literacy and numeracy test
• Lives close enough to reach the plant on time for every shift

• Basic computer skills
• NQF 2 in Automotive Manufacturing and Assembly through merSETA

• Transport from nearby townships on some routes
• Shift allowance and paid overtime
• Learnership opportunities toward an artisan trade
• Staff canteen with subsidised meals

• Many plants recruit through learnerships first. Watch for merSETA learnership adverts and apply early.
• Put your maths and English marks on your CV. Plants often use them to screen before the assessment.
