Professional Nurse (Theatre) – Entry Level

You'll run patient care on a busy shift at a private maternity unit in Richards Bay, from admission to discharge. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

You'll be based at a private maternity unit in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders
• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register

• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid
• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice

• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups

• List your speciality skills in plain words, such as "ventilated patients" or "normal deliveries", instead of just the ward name.
• Check your SANC receipt is for this year before you apply; an unpaid annual fee gets your application parked.
