Job Description

Housekeeping keeps a casino hotel in Richards Bay running quietly in the background. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

This post is Richards Bay-based, with most of your time spent at a casino hotel. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Strip beds, make them up with fresh linen and square the corners.
Clean bathrooms, showers and toilets with the correct colour-coded cloths.
Wash, dry and press linen and table cloths in the laundry.
Hand in lost property with a written log entry.
Mix chemicals safely and store them as the MSDS sheet shows.
Do evening turndowns with chocolates and curtain closing.
Restock minibars, amenities and tea trays and note what was used.

You'll need

You can finish around 14 rooms in a shift
Fit enough to lift mattresses and push trolleys all day
Weekend and public holiday work
Grade 10 or higher
Honest and trustworthy around guest belongings

Extra points for

A supervisor course or time spent running a floor
Basic first aid certificate
Chemical handling training
