Qualified Motor Mechanic (Passenger Vehicle Dealership)

This fleet maintenance workshop in Kempton Park needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at a fleet maintenance workshop in Kempton Park. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Carry out scheduled services to the manufacturer's checklist and interval
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign

• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Your own basic toolbox

• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration
• Automatic gearbox or DSG repair experience

• Productivity bonus on sold hours above target
• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates

• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
• Do not leave gaps unexplained. Say if you were working for yourself or doing mobile repairs.
