Qualified Motor Mechanic (Passenger Vehicle Dealership)

This independent service workshop in Pretoria West needs a qualified mechanic who can handle services, repairs and electrical faults. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

Home base is an independent service workshop on the Pretoria West side of Gauteng. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Quote extra work you find and pass it to the service advisor for approval
• Write clear job card notes on what you found and what you fixed
• Coach the apprentice on your bay through basic services
• Update control unit software when the manufacturer releases a campaign
• Road test vehicles before and after repairs
• Do wheel alignments and balancing on the alignment bay
• Carry out roadworthy pre-checks on lights, brakes and steering

• Your own basic toolbox
• Able to meet flat-rate or sold-hour targets
• Motor mechanic trade test certificate (Red Seal) or occupational certificate at NQF 4
• Neat with customer vehicles: seat covers, floor mats and no grease marks
• Confident with diagnostic scan tools and wiring diagrams

• Air-conditioning regas experience with SAQCC Gas registration
• High-voltage hybrid or EV safety training
• Brand-specific training certificates from a manufacturer academy

• Pay at or above the motor industry bargaining council rates
• Tool allowance or tool insurance
• Staff discount on parts and services
• Manufacturer training courses paid by the dealer

• Attach manufacturer training certificates. They can move you up a technician grade and pay band.
