Quality Inspector (Automotive Components)

You'll build parts or whole vehicles on a moving line at the exhaust and catalytic converter plant in Richards Bay. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at an exhaust and catalytic converter plant in Richards Bay. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Wear the correct PPE, including gloves, glasses and ear protection
• Assemble components at your station within the line cycle time
• Load and unload robotic welding cells safely
• Record production counts and scrap on the shift board
• Take part in kaizen ideas to improve your station
• Follow standard work sheets and quality checkpoints at every step
• Keep your station clean using 5S rules

• Can follow written and visual work instructions
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including nights
• Able to pass a basic literacy and numeracy test
• Able to stand for a full shift and do repeat tasks without losing focus
• Good eyesight and hand coordination
• Lives close enough to reach the plant on time for every shift

• Previous experience in an automotive plant
• Forklift licence for material handling

• Shift allowance and paid overtime
• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Transport from nearby townships on some routes

• Include any factory or line work you have done, even outside the car industry. It shows you can handle shift work.
• Put your maths and English marks on your CV. Plants often use them to screen before the assessment.
