Job Description

Serious work for a serious officer: armed response across a suburban residential area in Soweto. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Soweto-based, with most of your time spent at a suburban residential area.

What your day looks like

Respond to alarm and panic signals sent by the control room
Give first aid at an incident until paramedics take over
Search the property perimeter and check doors, windows and gates
Write detailed incident reports on the tablet or in the vehicle logbook
Visit clients for key-holder checks and open-up requests
Carry out visible patrols through the sector between call-outs

Must-haves

SAPS firearm competency certificate for handguns (and shotgun if required)
Valid Code 8 or Code 10 licence with at least 2 years driving
Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts
Calm under pressure and physically fit

Helpful, not essential

Advanced driving course
SAPS, SANDF or reservist background
First-aid Level 2 or 3
