Job Description

Short sessions, clear explanations and real progress: that's tutoring with a remedial learning centre in Tembisa. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a remedial learning centre on the Tembisa side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What your day looks like

Adjust your pace for learners with ADHD, dyslexia or anxiety
Log hours and sessions on the agency's booking system for payment
Write a short progress note for parents after each session
Prepare learners for control tests with short timed practice drills
Assess a new learner's level with a short diagnostic test
Teach one-on-one or in small groups of up to six

Must-haves

Own transport for home tutoring posts
Clear, patient way of explaining ideas
Reliable internet and a quiet place to teach for online posts
Available at least three afternoons or evenings a week
Police clearance for work with minors
Currently studying at university, or holding a degree or diploma

Extra points for

Second language for learners who study in Afrikaans or isiZulu
TEFL or TESOL certificate for English tutoring
