Job Description

Shrinkage hurts every retail distribution centre; in Cape Town CBD, you would be the one tracking it down. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a retail distribution centre in Cape Town CBD. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

The work, day to day

Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors
Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
Share trends with the store manager each week
Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft

You'll need

Discreet, observant and honest
Able to handle confrontation calmly
Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
Available for retail hours including month-end weekends

Helpful, not essential

Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports
