Receiving Clerk Assistant (Goods Inwards)

You'll load and offload trucks at a furniture retailer warehouse in East London so every delivery goes out full and correct. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Home base is a furniture retailer warehouse on the East London side of Eastern Cape.

• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Check goods received against the delivery note and flag shorts
• Guide trucks reversing into the bay with hand signals
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count
• Sweep the bay and clear shrink-wrap after each loading
• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop

• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• No criminal record
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note
• Willing to travel on routes that return late

• A Code 8 or Code 10 licence (a route to becoming a driver)
• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Meal allowance on long-route days

• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
