Reception Security Officer (Office Tower) – Entry Level

You'll control who comes in and out of an office tower in Umhlanga, and log every visitor properly. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The work is in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags

• Speaks and writes basic English
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Clean criminal record
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Stable long-term site contracts

• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
