Registered Nurse (Emergency Unit)

This is a registered nursing post at a community day clinic in Mthatha, with your own patient load and a say in the care plan. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

This post is in Mthatha (Eastern Cape). Please only apply if you can travel there daily.

• Take part in ward rounds with doctors and record the new orders
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
• Run emergency trolley checks and respond to cardiac arrest calls

• Solid knowledge of medication safety and the Nursing Act scope of practice
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Clean criminal record
• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
• Current SANC registration as a Professional Nurse, with this year's annual fees paid

• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups
