Registered Nurse (Night Duty)

Bring your SANC registration and your ward experience to a step-down and sub-acute facility in Sandton that needs a steady pair of hands. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

The site is in Sandton; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery
• Monitor vital signs, fluid balance and early warning scores, and escalate changes quickly
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Report adverse events and near misses on the incident system the same day

• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly
• Clean criminal record
• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Valid BLS certificate; ACLS or PALS for ICU and emergency posts

• Experience with electronic patient records or bedside charting systems
• Post-basic qualification in critical care, theatre or advanced midwifery
• Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts

• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
• Medical aid and pension fund contributions after probation
• Night-shift and weekend allowances on top of basic pay
• Study support for post-basic specialities

• For night-duty posts, say clearly in your cover note that you want permanent nights, as many applicants only want days.
