Job Description

Power has to be safe, reliable and legal. The water treatment utility in Fourways needs you to make it so. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

This post is Fourways-based, with most of your time spent at a water treatment utility. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

What you'll actually do

Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
Set and test protection relays and keep settings records
Design LV and MV reticulation to SANS 10142-1 and SANS 10142-2
Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
Keep single line diagrams and as-built drawings up to date

You'll need

Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
At least 3 years of electrical engineering work after graduating
Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts

Extra points for

Protection or HV operating authorisation
Government Certificate of Competency (Electrical, Factories or Mines)
