Job Description

Roads, water, buildings: the civil engineering consultancy in Paarl needs a civil engineer who can take a project from design to site. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Paarl, Western Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

The work, day to day

Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments
Work out loads to SANS 10160 for buildings and structures
Write design reports and handover documents
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162

What you need

Good grasp of South African design codes for your field
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
