Restaurant Waitron (Steakhouse) – Fixed-Term

You'll look after tables at a sports bar and grill in Mbombela, from the first greeting to the final bill. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

The site is in Mbombela; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Set tables, polish cutlery and glasses, and check condiments before doors open.
• Check back two minutes after mains land and fix problems on the spot.
• Split bills, process card payments and handle tip-outs at the end of shift.
• Explain specials, allergens and wine pairings in plain words.
• Take orders on the POS tablet and read them back to avoid kitchen mistakes.
• Restock the bar fridges and help with the weekly stock count.
• Mix cocktails, pour draught and serve shooters to spec at the bar.

• Neat grooming and a friendly manner under pressure
• Grade 10 or higher; matric is a plus
• You speak clear English and can chat easily with guests
• Quick with basic maths and card machines
• Happy to work nights, weekends and public holidays
• At least 6 months of waitering, bar or coffee shop experience

• Responsible Service of Alcohol training
• A second language such as isiZulu, isiXhosa or Afrikaans

• You keep your own tips, paid out daily or weekly
• Staff meal on every shift
• Late-shift lift home within a set radius
• Uniform supplied and laundered

• Walk in with your CV between 2pm and 4pm when managers have time, not during lunch or dinner service.
