Route Planner (Last-Mile Deliveries)

Behind every truck on the road is a controller; at a distribution depot in Ballito, that could be you. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll be based at a distribution depot in Ballito. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Compile daily reports on trips completed and late deliveries
• Phone drivers when trucks stop too long or go off-route
• Arrange breakdown recovery and replacement vehicles
• Update customers on delivery times and delays
• Book vehicle services, licence renewals and roadworthy tests
• Assign trucks and drivers to routes and track them on telematics
• Capture trip sheets, fuel and toll costs on the system

• Knowledge of South African road freight regulations
• Matric
• At least 2 years in transport or logistics
• Clear on the phone with drivers and customers
• Good with Excel and email

• Office-based work with a steady roster
• Training on the fleet and tracking systems
• Cellphone allowance for standby shifts

• Give the fleet size and route types you handled, for example "40 trucks, long-haul and local". Hiring managers want scale.
• Mention the tracking and Excel skills you have. Bring an example report if you are allowed to share one.
