Safety Coordinator (Processing Plant)

The gold tailings retreatment operation near Thohoyandou needs someone who knows the MHSA inside out and can coach crews. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Thohoyandou-based, with most of your time spent at a gold tailings retreatment operation. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee
• Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
• Prepare for inspections by the mine inspector and follow up on instructions

• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification

• CPD and further study funded
• Standby allowance for incident call-outs
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• Company vehicle on site
