Safety Representative Coordinator (Road Works)

You'll keep the site legal and the workers safe for the high-rise residential project in Richards Bay. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Audit subcontractor safety files before they start work
• Hold toolbox talks on topics that match the week's work
• Write and review risk assessments and safe work method statements
• Check that fall protection plans are in place for work at height
• Investigate incidents and near misses and report them on time
• Track PPE issues and replace damaged equipment
• Inspect scaffolds, excavations and edge protection daily

• SAMTRAC or an NQF-accredited health and safety qualification
• SACPCMP registration as a Construction Health and Safety Officer
• Good understanding of the OHS Act and Construction Regulations 2014
• Confident enough to stop unsafe work, even when the programme is tight
• You write clear reports in English
• At least 2 years as a safety officer on construction sites

• Fall protection planner training
• Experience on renewable energy or high-rise projects
• ISO 45001 internal auditor course

• Paid SACPCMP renewal and CPD
• Clear growth path to a construction health and safety agent role
• Laptop and data for reporting
• Travel and site allowances
