Job Description

Hard, outdoor work on a pine plantation near Durban Central, with training on chainsaws and fire safety. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

What your day looks like

Fight veld fires with beaters and water packs under a crew leader
Feed logs into sawmill machines and stack planks
Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Wear chainsaw chaps, helmets and ear protection at all times

What you need

Physically strong and fit for steep slopes
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Valid ID
Available for early starts and fire-season standby

Helpful, not essential

Chainsaw operator certificate
First-aid training
