Security Dispatcher (Armed Response)

Sharp eyes and a calm voice are the tools of the trade at a shopping mall security office in Vanderbijlpark. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Location: Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date
• Pull and save video footage for incident investigations
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows

• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher

• CCTV operator short course
• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• Call centre work in the past

• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Training on the monitoring software
• Shift allowance for nights
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Mention any software you have used: alarm monitoring, CCTV or even call centre systems. Control rooms need people who learn screens fast.
