Job Description

Real machines, real budgets and real downtime targets at the petrochemical plant in Prospecton. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

The site is in Prospecton; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying.

What you'll actually do

Analyse breakdowns with root cause methods and fix the cause, not the symptom
Run vibration, thermography and oil analysis programmes on critical equipment
Check pressure vessels for compliance with the Pressure Equipment Regulations and SANS 347
Write scopes of work and compare contractor quotes
Mentor candidate engineers and artisans on technical problems

Must-haves

Registered with ECSA as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate, depending on level
Three or more years working as a qualified engineer, in industry or consulting
BEng or BSc Eng in Mechanical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist roles
Working knowledge of the OHS Act and General Machinery Regulations
Code 08 licence for site visits
Confident with 3D CAD software and engineering calculations

Extra points for

Experience with SAP PM for maintenance
Reliability or asset management certification
Government Certificate of Competency (Mechanical, Factories)
