Senior Payroll Officer (Group Companies)

A labour-heavy mining contractor in Newcastle needs a payroll person who never misses a cut-off. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Home base is a labour-heavy mining contractor on the Newcastle side of KwaZulu-Natal. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Import clock-card data and check overtime against approved hours
• Release the salary bank file for authorisation
• Compile bi-annual EMP501 reconciliations and issue IRP5 certificates
• Submit Compensation Fund returns of earnings
• Answer staff payslip queries clearly and in private
• Process garnishee orders and third-party deductions

• At least 2 years of full-function payroll
• Matric plus a payroll certificate or diploma
• Sound knowledge of PAYE, UIF, SDL and the BCEA
• Comfortable with Excel reconciliations
• Reliable with deadlines that cannot move
• Experience on Sage 300 People, VIP, PaySpace or SimplePay

• Knowledge of employment equity and WSP reporting
• Experience with medical aid and pension fund reconciliations

• Structured increases linked to certification
