Trainee Accountant (SAICA Training Contract) – Immediate Start

Month-end, year-end and audit prep all run through you at a private school trust in Prospecton. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Prospecton, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Run cash flow forecasts and manage the weekly payment run
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and clear old reconciling items
• Build budgets and rolling forecasts with department heads
• Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Prepare monthly management accounts with variance commentary
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules

• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Strong Excel skills, including large data sets and lookups
• At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience
• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• BCom Accounting or equivalent degree

• CA(SA) with SAICA, or AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA) with SAIPA
• Power BI or a similar BI tool
• Completed articles at an audit firm
