Job Description

Here your code runs in production, not in a drawer: an insurance company software team in Bellville. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

You'll be based at an insurance company software team in Bellville. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

The work, day to day

Pair with junior developers to unblock them
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments

You'll need

Experience writing automated tests
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Extra points for

Public GitHub portfolio or published app
Docker and Kubernetes experience
