SHE Officer (Contract Mining)

You'll make safety real on the ground at the mining contractor on a platinum lease near Klerksdorp, not just on paper. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Klerksdorp, North West. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Review baseline and issue-based risk assessments with section managers
• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee
• Check that crews do planned task observations and pre-shift checks
• Lead incident investigations using a root cause method
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current

• Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings
• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• Certificate of fitness to go underground or into the pit
• At least 3 years in a safety role at a mine

• Retirement fund and medical aid

• Company vehicle on site

• Give numbers: how many investigations you led, or how the LTIFR changed in your section.
• Show your mining sector safety experience clearly. Construction-only safety CVs are often moved to the no pile.
