Sheep Farm Hand (Shearing Season)

Healthy animals mean a healthy farm; on a dairy farm near Mahikeng, you keep them that way. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

You'll be based at a dairy farm in Mahikeng. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Move animals between camps or pens calmly
• Record births, deaths and treatments in the herd book
• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Check animals for illness or injury and report to the manager
• Collect eggs or check broiler house temperatures

• Gentle and patient with animals
• Follows hygiene and biosecurity rules
• South African ID or a legal work permit
• Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
• Comfortable around large animals
• Able to live on the farm or close by

• Training in animal health
• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets
• Farm housing on site
• Milk or meat rations

• Stress reliability. Explain that you understand milking or feeding cannot be skipped.
• For foreman roles, mention how many workers you supervised and what you were in charge of.
