Job Description

You'll drive tractors and farm machines on a sugar cane estate near Mahikeng through planting and harvest. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a sugar cane estate on the Mahikeng side of North West.

The work, day to day

Mix and apply sprays exactly as the farm manager prescribes
Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it
Haul cane, grain or fruit bins from field to shed
Check oil, water, tyres and grease points before starting
Clear firebreaks and grade farm roads when needed

What you need

Can read job cards and spray instructions
Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
Basic understanding of implements and settings
Reliable and sober on duty
At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
Available to live on or near the farm

Nice if you have

Experience with GPS guidance or auto-steer
A pesticide application or spray course
Basic mechanical skills
