Site Agent (Civil Works)

This road and stormwater contractor in Kariega needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a road and stormwater contractor on the Kariega side of Eastern Cape. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning

• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post

• Surveying skills with a total station
• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects

• Project completion bonus linked to handover date

• Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
