Site Foreman (Residential Housing) – Immediate Start

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the general building contractor in Midrand. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a general building contractor on the Midrand side of Gauteng. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Check workmanship against drawings, specifications and SANS 10400
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing

• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience

• Concrete technology short course
• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
• Experience on JBCC or GCC 2015 contracts

• Cellphone and laptop supplied
• Project completion bonus linked to handover date
• Vehicle allowance or company bakkie
• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects
