Job Description

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the low-cost housing developer in Kariega. This is a good step for someone who wants proper routine and a manager who notices good work.

Home base is a low-cost housing developer on the Kariega side of Eastern Cape. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
Plan the week's work from the construction programme and brief the gangs each morning
Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing

What you need

Code 08 licence and your own reliable transport between sites
At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool

Extra points for

Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
Concrete technology short course
Surveying skills with a total station
