Site Manager (Retail Construction) – Fixed-Term

Keep the programme on track, the subbies busy and the site safe for the retail and commercial builder in Klerksdorp. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

Location: Klerksdorp, North West. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
• Set out foundations, grid lines and levels with the surveyor or a dumpy level
• Measure completed work for monthly payment certificates
• Draw up snag lists and close them out before practical completion
• Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing

• National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
• At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post
• Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
• Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act

• Concrete technology short course
• Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects

• Site accommodation on out-of-town projects

• A common mistake is listing only company names. Say what you built, for example "32 walk-up flats, 3 storeys".
• Mention the contract types you have worked on, like JBCC or GCC. It shows you understand claims and variations.
