Tiler (Floors & Wet Areas)

You'll build it with your hands: walls, floors, roofs and finishes on the residential renovation company in Brits. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at a residential renovation company in Brits. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Tile floors, showers and splashbacks, including cutting around fittings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule

• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible

• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter
• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade

• UIF and COIDA registration from day one
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest

• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
