Site Security Officer (Construction Yard)

The gate at a gated residential estate in Welkom is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

This post is Welkom-based, with most of your time spent at a gated residential estate. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events

• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Physically fit for foot patrols

• Previous experience at a similar site type
• Firefighting or evacuation training
• First-aid Level 1 certificate

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Stable long-term site contracts
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Provident fund contributions

• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
