Job Description

A bank's digital channels team in Johannesburg CBD needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll report in Johannesburg CBD. Relocation is not covered for this one. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Pick up tickets from the sprint board and estimate the work
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs

Must-haves

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people
Experience writing automated tests
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases

Extra points for

Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
Public GitHub portfolio or published app
