Spray Tractor Operator (Orchards)

Big machines, long days in season: a maize and soya farm near Mogwase needs a skilled operator. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Mogwase-based, with most of your time spent at a maize and soya farm. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Record hours, fuel and fields worked on the job card
• Hook up and drive ploughs, discs, planters and sprayers
• Wash equipment after spraying and store chemicals safely
• Operate combine harvesters during harvest season
• Report breakdowns and help the mechanic with repairs
• Plant rows straight, using GPS guidance where the tractor has it

• Available to live on or near the farm
• Basic understanding of implements and settings
• Willing to work long hours in planting and harvest seasons
• At least 2 years driving tractors on a farm
• Reliable and sober on duty
• Can read job cards and spray instructions

• Basic mechanical skills
• Code 8 or Code 10 licence for road trips
• A pesticide application or spray course

• Farm housing with water and electricity
• Overtime paid during planting and harvest
• Training on new machinery
• Harvest bonus at season end

• Mention GPS or auto-steer if you have used it. Modern grain farms struggle to find operators who know it.
• A reference from a previous farmer is gold. Ask for it before you leave any farm job.
