Staff Nurse (Night Shift)

You'll give hands-on nursing care at a retirement village frail care centre in Kempton Park, working alongside registered nurses. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

You'll be based at a retirement village frail care centre in Kempton Park. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Follow infection control rules, including hand hygiene and safe sharps disposal
• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Hand out oral medication under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity

• SANC enrolment as an Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary for nursing posts
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Patient and gentle with elderly, frail or confused people
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• Dementia care or palliative care short course
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
• Paid training in dementia and end-of-life care

• If you're a caregiver, attach the certificate from the training provider, not just a letter saying you attended.
• Name the type of patients you've cared for, such as stroke patients or dementia residents, in your first CV line.
