Steel Fixer (Reinforcing)

The residential renovation company in Bethlehem needs skilled hands and helpers who know the basics of the building trade. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Bethlehem-based, with most of your time spent at a residential renovation company. There's a probation period of three months before the contract is confirmed.

• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Lay face brick and plaster brick to line, level and plumb
• Build and strip formwork for columns, beams and slabs
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats
• Clean your tools and sweep your work area before knocking off
• Cut, bend and tie reinforcing steel to the bending schedule
• Carry bricks and materials to the workface and keep the scaffold clear

• Willing to move between sites in the same city
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Able to follow a foreman's instructions and read basic measurements
• Punctual every morning, even in winter

• Chance to move up to a gang leader post
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• UIF and COIDA registration from day one

• Be ready to do a short practical test on site. Arrive early with your own tools if you have them.
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
