Steel Fixer (Reinforcing) – Immediate Start

Put your trade to work on the school construction project in Johannesburg CBD, with steady work for the length of the project. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Location: Johannesburg CBD, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Plaster walls and float them to a smooth, even finish
• Fix roof trusses, purlins and brandering for ceilings
• Lay paving on a compacted, levelled bedding sand layer
• Mix mortar and plaster to the right ratio for the job
• Wear your hard hat, boots and harness wherever the foreman says
• Prime and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork in two or three coats

• Punctual every morning, even in winter
• Physically strong enough for a full day of lifting and bending outside
• Safety boots of your own for the first week, if possible
• Proven experience in at least one trade, shown by references or a practical test
• Understands basic site safety like scaffolds and open trenches

• Your own trowels, levels and tile cutter
• Experience on NHBRC-registered housing projects
• CETA or NQF 2 or 3 certificate in your trade

• PPE supplied: hard hat, gloves, reflective vest
• Weekly or fortnightly pay, always on time
• Transport from a pick-up point to site

• Say which trade you are strongest in first. "Bricklayer, 6 years, face brick" is better than "general construction".
• Bring photos of your work on your phone. A foreman believes a straight wall more than a long CV.
